One & One Other is a divergent dance film comprised of two chapters. The first chapter paints the 3am portrait of two shelf stockers at a 24/7 mega-supermarket, both entrenched in the banal nature of their perpetually ordinary jobs.
Featuring Emilie Leriche and Shawn Fitzgerald Ahern, their imaginations and companionship allow for an intellectual jailbreak from their lives, as they are transported to the retro 80s dance break of their dreams.
Commissioned by Baryshnikov Arts Center through its 2022 Commissioning Initiative.
About Shawn Fitzgerald Ahern & Emilie Leriche
Shawn Fitzgerald Ahern is an American freelance choreographer, director and performer based in Berlin, Germany. His has contributed to more than 30 major productions for both stage and film, including three Grammy-nominated dance films and two Academy Award winning motion pictures.
Emilie Leriche is a freelance performer and creator based between Göteborg, Sweden and Paris, France. She has danced with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. As a choreographer, she has created work on Nederlands Dans Theater II, Whim W’Him, the tanzensemble of Theater St. Gallen, and will premiere her most recent creation with Ballett Hagen in October of 2024.
Shawn and Emilie have collaborated on multiple projects, bringing together their diverse artistic communities from across the globe to create art that communicates human stories through movement.
