About Ascension
Ascension is an extended play list of short dance films based off a mystery of living souls of the legendary African Queen Warriors that are celebrated through a dance ceremonial ritual in deserted spaces.
This extended playlist was inspired by the history of African Queen Warriors whose energy still leaves on and inspires females around the world.
About Hakim Zziwa
Hakim Zziwa was born and raised in Uganda, currently operating in Boston, MA and Uganda as well. He has always been passionate about telling stories visually inspired by his strong stage performance background as a dance artist.
Being a performing artist inspired him to get into dance visual storytelling and producing dance videos with a lot of action later on earning an official selection for one of his short films, "In the Barrow," at the Urban Film Festival in Paris.
Hakim.Z later expanded his creativity to the documentary style of filmmaking that has taken him to another level, working on various commercial project collaborations as a Director and Director of Photography. A combination of shooting dance action and documentary style open up doors to directing music videos and short films.
As a creative with a wide scope of imaginations, he has been able to work on various projects with higher institutions of learning including Harvard University and Boston College helping tell their stories with his experience in documentary style of filmmaking, something that has helped these institutions achieve their intended goals and return on investment.
Hakim.Z continues to explore different genres of film making especially documentary, short films, music videos and abstract experimental film projects.
